Fireworks, BBQ, bands, parades, it is 4th of July again in Austin and this time it’s landing on a Friday allowing most to stay up late and sleep in on Saturday.
Austin Symphony HEB July 4th Concert & Fireworks
The city of Austin’s annual celebration will NOT be held at Auditorium Shores on Ladybird Lake this year due to renovations. Instead the event will be held at Circuit of Americas. Parking lots open at 3PM, gates at 4PM with interactive games and contests for families. Activities include face painting, go-karts, slides, balloon twisting, strider course, misting/water-zone, bubbles, and more. The Austin Symphony Orchestra will perform at 8:30PM and the “mile-high” fireworks begin at 8:30PM.
The event will be free and open to the public, but you might have to pay for parking as lots run out. Magic 95.5FM will be simulcasting the event.
Team America at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz
See Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s classic puppet lampooning of American patriotism, “Team America”, at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz at 10:30PM for the 10th anniversary of the film.

4TH OF JULY WATER PARK & MUSIC PICNIC
Combine the fun of water slides and 6th street things to the 4th of July Water Park and Music Picnic hosted by the North Door. The event starts at 2PM across from North Door with prices at $5 for kids and $7 for adults. Featured bands include The Fleshlights, Mom Jeans, Jesus Christ Superfly, School of Rock, and Jupiter 5. Things wrap up at 9PM and tickets can be had here.
Instead of a man made water event how about something a little more natural? Hamilton Pool will be open from 9AM-6PM on the 4th of July and is currently allowing swimming. The naturally made preserve near Dripping Springs should make a fantastic escape from the heat.
Born in the USA w The E. 6th Street Band featuring Johnny Walker as Bruce Springsteen, Cheap Trick Tribute, Billy’s Choir (Billy Squier), The Shitty Beach Boys, The Gories Tribute, Neil Young Tribute & Crazy Ricky’s One Year Anniversary
That is a mouthful, and a lot of acts! See at Hotel Vegas on the east side The E. 6th Street Band featuring Johnny Walker perform “Born in the U.S.A.,” as well as The Police tribute band The Dream Police, Billy Squier tribute, the Shitty Beach Boys, Neil Young, and more tribute acts. Not all of those might be American, but we’ll let it slide.
